Painting

Painting and cooking have been my source of communication about my beliefs and what I love in the world. Fine art and culinary art each begin with a dialogue between the artist and subject, as both disciplines share a concern with value, balance, color, proportion and harmony. Knowing that we eat with our eyes, I prepare and arrange food accordingly. It is the fine arts that showed me what I instinctively felt. I see beautiful food presentation as a work of art. I have always enjoyed looking at my work as it develops into the final stages. As in my cooking, I can realize the subjective and intellectual choices I make during the painting process, and make decisions as to the purpose of the work. Never do I feel the need to attack a canvas but enjoy the lines developing into shapes and compositions that reveal the truth of making art. It is dialogue. Still life, florals, sea and landscapes, and the figure, are the subjects in my works. I have been through many phases, and mostly my work can be remembered by color, shapes, and an expressionistic approach. I want to known as an artist who represents peace and harmony, respecting the landscape and adoring the beauty that life offers us.
