BalletX, Philadelphia’s premier contemporary ballet, whose dancers were named “among America’s best” by The New York Times and hailed as “technically brilliant…with vibrant personalities” by The Boston Globe, commissions choreographers from around the world to create dance that is “fresh, inclusive, and connects to what people want” (Philadelphia Citizen). Founded in 2005 by Christine Cox and Matthew Neenan, BalletX is led by Cox, whose tenure as Artistic & Executive Director has produced over 120 world premiere ballets by nearly 70 choreographers, a record “few companies can match” (The New York Times). Under Cox’s leadership, BalletX has been hailed as a “place of choreographic innovation” (The New Yorker) and an “epicenter of creation” (Dance Magazine). The company has toured to Vail Dance Festival, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, New York City Center, The Kennedy Center, and The Joyce Theater, among many others, sharing the joy and passion of dance with audiences across the nation. Flamenco Y Más is a local Multi-generational Spanish and Flamenco Dance Ensemble that performs in Festivals both local and throughout the Delaware Valley. Anne Margaret O’Malley is the Artistic Director and Choreographer. They were guest Artists in Wilmington Ballet’s Nutcracker 2022 and Performed in Philly Fringe 2022 and 23. They have been featured artists with the Delaware Valley Opera Company in “Goyescas” 2023, Flamenco Family Fun, and “Carmen” They offer weekly classes and rehearse at Jenkintown Dance Arts where they have performed in their recitals. So as we embark on our 2023-24 season we do so with the Joy of knowing that there is a place for everyone in Flamenco. ¡Olé!

Established in 2013, Jenkintown Dance Arts is dedicated to nurturing creativity, artistic apprecition, self-assurance, and a vibrant lifestyle. Our focus is on delivering top-notch dance and movement instruction to students of all ages and skill levels. Throughout the year, Jenkintown Dance Arts proudly hosts and participates in a range of community events. Our attentive and skilled team values the individual needs and abilities of each student, ensuring they receive the education and care they deserve in our supportive environment.

The Cummins School of Irish dance is starting its 24th year of passing on the Irish heritage and culture. Our studios are in Jenkintown and Glenside. We accept girls and boys ages 4 and above. We also offer adult classes.

Flaco’s Dance Factory hosts adult dance classes and social functions. Although our Ballroom class is very popular, our focus is on cultural and folkloric expressions of movement and dance from sound the world, particularly Latin America. We offer services for children via our in school residencies & assembly programs like, “Hola, Vecinos!” and more. Wedding choreography is our specialty!!

Founded in 2010, Project Moshen is a dynamic female dance company committed to advocating for women through the art of dance and community outreach.We are dedicated to creating inspiring live performances that address critical issues such as female empowerment, equality, and mental health, while also actively collaborating with nonprofits to support vital causes like ovarian cancer awareness. Project Moshen’s mission extends beyond the stage as we partner with youth organizations to provide educational opportunities through dance classes and other initiatives for girls and women. We strive to continuously innovate and expand our presence in the community, aiming to educate, inspire, and drive forward female movements, all while keeping the arts alive in Philadelphia. Cathleen Jordan Rubin and Megan Hunt are the owners of the Jordan Hunt School of Irish Dance who have been dedicated to promoting the art form of Irish Dance through their passion for both Irish dance and teaching children for over twenty years.  The mission of the Jordan-Hunt School is to promote self-confidence, poise, teamwork, dedication and perseverance in our dancers and encourage them to reach their personal best.  In a fun and structured class setting, dancers set goals, grow in their soft and hard shoe step-dancing techniques and work together to perform traditional team ceili dances.  Cathleen and Megan model and foster a love of the creative evolution of this beautiful and athletically demanding form of dance today and encourage each and every child to dance from their heart!

Metropolitan Ballet Company, founded by former Pennsylvania Ballet dancer, Lisa Collins Vidnovic, provides the highest quality performance training for pre-professional dancers, performances, and outreach programs designed to promote a love and appreciation of dance in our community. Metropolitan is admired nationally for its Boys’ Scholarship Program which has provided over $1.5 million in tuition-free training to over 370 boys since 1999. Metropolitan dancers have excelled at YAGP, the world’s largest student ballet scholarship competition, and Metropolitan Ballet Academy has received the YAGP Outstanding School Award four times. Metropolitan is also an important launch-pad for choreographers (Jessica Lang, Kanji Segawa, Tommie Waheed-Evans, Maleek Washington) Met alumni are currently dancing with San Francisco Ballet, BalletX, Cincinnati Ballet, Colorado Ballet, and other companies and top trainee programs.
