Volunteer Terms and Conditions
Thank you for volunteering with the Jenkintown Festival of the Arts! By registering, you agree to the following terms and conditions.
Volunteer Roles
Volunteer duties may include any of the following, depending on your assigned shift and area:
- Vendor check-in
- Setup and breakdown
- Guest services and wayfinding
- Raffle ticket sales
- Kids Court or art station support
- Other areas as needed
Age Requirement
All volunteers must be at least 12 years old. Volunteers under 18 will be asked to obtain parental or guardian acknowledgment as part of the registration process.
Volunteer Expectations
All volunteers — adult and student — are expected to:
- Attend the pre-event volunteer orientation/briefing prior to the festival. Details of this training will be shared as we get closer to the festival date.
- Wear your volunteer identifier (may be a shirt, badge, or lanyard) for the duration of your shift
- Know the location of event HQ and the name of your point-of-contact lead before your shift begins
- Communicate with your event lead or a fellow volunteer before leaving your assigned post for any reason
- Maintain a positive, welcoming demeanor with all attendees and vendors
- Report any safety or medical emergency immediately to event leadership and/or call 911
Adult Volunteers
Adult volunteers contribute their time as a gift to the community. Volunteering is unpaid, and no compensation of any kind will be provided.
Student Volunteers
Student volunteers may earn credit toward school- or organization-required community service hours, or extra credit in art class, as applicable. To receive credit, students must:
- Complete their full assigned shift
- Remain present and actively engaged at their assigned post throughout their shift
- Fulfill all assigned duties to the satisfaction of the volunteer coordinator
Credit will not be issued to students who leave their post without authorization, are unaccounted for during their shift, or do not complete their assigned responsibilities. Hours are not guaranteed and are subject to coordinator approval.
Volunteering is unpaid. No compensation of any kind will be provided.
Code of Conduct
Volunteers are expected to treat all attendees, vendors, staff, and fellow volunteers with courtesy and respect. Disruptive, unsafe, or inappropriate behavior may result in removal from the event and, for student volunteers, forfeiture of credit hours.
Cancellations and No-Shows
If you are unable to attend your scheduled shift, please notify the volunteer coordinator as soon as possible — and no later than 48 hours before the event. This allows us to make alternate arrangements and ensure all areas are adequately staffed.
Volunteers who do not show up for their shift without prior notice may be ineligible to volunteer at future Jenkintown Community Alliance events. Student volunteers who no-show without notice will not receive credit for their registered shift and may not be reassigned to an alternate shift.
We understand that emergencies happen. If you experience an unexpected conflict or emergency on the day of the event, contact the volunteer coordinator directly as soon as you are able.
Liability Waiver
By registering as a volunteer, you acknowledge that participation in event activities may involve physical activity and inherent risks, including but not limited to setup and breakdown tasks, outdoor conditions, and crowd environments. You agree to assume responsibility for any such risks. The Jenkintown Community Alliance, its staff, and its event partners are not liable for personal injury, illness, or loss or damage to personal property that occurs in connection with your volunteer service.
Photo and Media Release
The Jenkintown Community Alliance may photograph or video record volunteers during the festival. By registering, you consent to the use of your likeness in images or recordings for promotional, educational, or fundraising purposes, including on the organization’s website and social media channels. If you do not wish to be photographed, please notify a staff member at event HQ at the start of your shift. For volunteers under 18, this consent must be granted by a parent or guardian during registration.
